Spain is world famous for its excellent gastronomy with renowned chefs such as Ferrán Adriá, the Roca brothers and many more. Indeed, the best chef in the world is the Spaniard David Muñoz. El Xato: over 100 years feeding its customers

There is a beautiful story behind this restaurant called ‘El Xato’ after the affectionate nickname given to founder José Cano Cano, who in 1961 took it over and worked with great effort alongside his wife, Esperanza Fuster Devesa, to get it to the point where it is now.

Years later, the expert hand of Cristina Figueira, Francisco’s wife and José Cano’s daughter-in-law, was at the forefront of the kitchen. Cristina Figueira, who expanded her culinary technique under the guidance of the great Joan Roca at his restaurant in Barcelona, Celler de Can Roca.

With various options such as the Temptations Menu, as they describe it: ‘Feel the “temptation” to try a complete menu with six appetizers, four individual starters, a main course to choose between fish or meat and a delicious dessert.’ Or the Centenary Menu “El Xato”, Mediterranean cuisine, bold and surprising, reflected in each ingredient chosen, and in each creation, resulting in superb dishes, of outstanding quality, allowing your imagination to run wild and your mind to fly to a world of flavours and balances. They all have the option of being paired with wines.
