Would you like to travel to Costa Blanca this summer, but fear is holding you back? Are you still not too sure of the current situation in the area regarding Covid-19? We at Jetvillas would like to encourage you to visit Costa Blanca this summer because it is, and has been for months now, one of the places with the lowest coronavirus incidence rates and is, therefore, a safe destination.

Costa Blanca is a safe place, especially the northern area. We’re not just making that up, either, the daily data published by the Spanish government and the accumulated incidence rates are there to prove it.

For some time now, Costa Blanca has been registering daily infection rates that are much lower than the rest of Europe and also lower than other parts of Spain. The infection rate is three times less than the national average and 7 times less than in other worse affected areas such as Madrid, for example. The Valencia region (where Costa Blanca is located) has been the Spanish region with the lowest coronavirus incidence for many months.

Costa Blanca was certainly affected by the pandemic, but from the start, the impact was much less marked than in other areas of the Spanish coast. And, despite the alarming figures, the Valencia region is one of the eight Spanish regions with the lowest death rates per 100,000 inhabitants. In fact, the Dénia health district was the last in which the virus was considered an epidemic (and there have been no deaths in the district since April.)

Moreover, the good progress of the vaccination campaign and resulting immunisation of a large part of the population mean the figures are reducing day by day. The highest peak was reached at the end of March and ever since, despite some slight fluctuations, the figures have been showing a gradual downward trend.

Thanks to the control and positive evolution of the pandemic, it has been possible to open the doors to travellers.

With this in mind, we wish to reassure you and tell you that the northern part of Costa Blanca is currently a safe destination which, with necessary safety measures, of course, you can visit and enjoy the great weather and a healthy, active lifestyle.

Here in Costa Blanca, we are noticing that as the summer progresses, tourism is picking up. Hotel occupancy is growing (in a very well-controlled way) and owners of homes in the area are planning to return this summer to spend their holidays here.

Demand is picking up and supply is gradually increasing. Occupancy forecasts are rising, most likely due to the good news regarding coronavirus in the area.

The current situation in Costa Blanca: Safe destination

By now, tourist and cultural activities have resumed, and restaurants and shops have re-opened.

As of the 1st of July, the borders will be open for international tourists and no quarantine will be required upon arrival. Although certain measures will remain in place to guarantee everyone stays safe, facemasks will probably no longer be required in open spaces either.

The situation here feels almost normal. The state of the pandemic in Costa Blanca is very positive compared to other areas and compared to previous months.

How to travel to Costa Blanca this summer

At Jetvillas we always recommend that, before you travel to Spain, you consult the updated information on entry requirements that the Spanish Government updates from time to time.

All travellers arriving in Spain must fill in an online form through the SP-TH (Spain Travel Health) app, which will issue a QR code depending on whether or not the passenger is subject to documentary checks. Children under 6 years of age are exempt from the presentation of certificates but must fill in the SpTH form and present the QR code.

Permanent UK residents who have not travelled in the 14 days prior to their trip to Spain are allowed entry without restrictions on health. If in the 14 days prior to your trip to Spain you have been in another country, you must prove that you meet the Spanish authorities’ health requirements. To do so, there are three possibilities:
  • Vaccination certificate proving full inoculation with a vaccine authorised by the EMA or WHO.
  • A negative antigen or PCR test within the 48 hours prior to travel.
  • A certificate confirming that you have had and overcome the virus.

Coronavirus prevention measures

Although by now, we are all familiar with them and used to them and they have been implemented everywhere, it never hurts to run through them again. It’s always a good idea to be cautious:

  • Wear facemasks, both indoors and whenever social distancing cannot be maintained. All our team wear them in our offices and we ask our clients to do the same when they come to see us.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water, or use disinfectant gel. We have hydroalcoholic gel available for clients to use when entering and leaving our offices.
  • We disinfect the office every day, and also after every client’s visit.
  • We have installed protective screens.
  • It’s possible to make an appointment for your visit.
