Benissa is quite rightly proud of its elegant neo-gothic cathedral (Purisima Xiqueta), the largest cathedral within the Marina district. Next to the cathedral is the town center, with its well preserved medieval quarter.
The town is an ideal place to do some shopping in one of the many individual establishments. On Saturdays the local market offers traditional products to include well priced fruits and vegetables.
The road to the coast is flanked by beautiful green landscaping comprising small hills, citrus, olive and almonds orchards plus vineyards, one of the main activities of this town.
Benissa’s main sandy beach is La Fustera, which takes the same name as its popular residential area.
From this beach you can take a pedestrian sea walkway to several little bays and the marina of Les Bassetes, within another half hours walk you will find the sandy beaches and promenades of Calpe.
However, if you follow the coast road in the opposite direction you will reach the town of Moraira. On the way, you will find numerous "coves", a mixture of rocky shorelines sandy beaches with crystal clear water. It is a paradise for snorkeling fans and scuba divers.
The residential areas of Benissa with villas and country houses, are in the mainland not more than 3 kilometers from the sea. The minimum building plot size is usually 800 m2, which is established by law for the entire area between Calpe and Moraira.
For golfers, there is the beautiful Golf Course Ifach.
